The Fear

Fear: to be afraid.

“A man has no fear,” is what he had been told, but then his mother told him something different.

“All the great men wake up scared,” she said, “and the not so great. It’s okay not to know.”

“But I don’t know…”

And he was lost for words.

When his heart felt like it would stop beating or not slow down, he remembered what he was told by his mother, and he bit his tongue.

And he breathed.

And he lived.
